Drawing as an act of resistance

Rossi Aguilar (Maracaibo, 1993) is a visual artist and researcher. She studied Artistic Studies at the Universidade Aberta de Lisboa and completed her artistic training at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). She also holds a PhD in Art, awarded Cum Laude, from the Universitat Politècnica de València.

She has been recognized with the Cátedra Planeta ODS 14 Award (2023) and has been selected and/or awarded at the Mislata Biennial 2021, the Valencia Biennial 2023, and the Mostra Art Públic in 2021 and 2025. She has held a total of eight solo exhibitions, including Thinkin’ Out Loud (Madrid, 2024, Factory of Dreams) and most recently Fragmentary Writings: Gesture and Memory (Valencia, 2026, Cultural Centre La Nau). This exhibition explores waste as a manifestation of the unfinished, representing layered realities—from the sensory and tangible to the virtual.

She has been an artist-in-residence at Factory of Dreams, the studio of Okuda San Miguel, through the IAM WITH YOU grant, initiated by Ana Barriga and continued by the Coloring the World Foundation. Her artistic and research collaborators include Fundación ONCE, CSIC, Politecnico di Milano, and the Universitat de València. She has published texts with specialized publishers and actively participates in R&D projects.
